The Singapore Foochow Dionglok Association (新加坡福州长乐公会) was formally established on April 14, 1940, serving the Changle community of Singapore. Changle (长乐, pronounced Diòng-lŏ̤h in Foochow dialect — hence "Dionglok") is a district in eastern Fujian Province, China, administered by Fuzhou.
新加坡福州长乐公会于1940年4月14日正式成立，服务旅居新加坡的长乐乡亲。 长乐（闽东话读作"Diòng-lŏ̤h"，即"Dionglok"）是中国福建省福州市东部的一个区。
The name "Changle" (长乐) derives from the ancient saying "Chang An Jiu Le" (长安久乐) — meaning enduring peace and lasting joy. Our association embodies this spirit: a place of belonging, mutual support, and cultural pride for Changle descendants across Singapore.
"长乐"之名源自古语"长安久乐"，寓意长久安宁、世代欢乐。 公会秉承此精神，成为旅星长乐乡亲相互扶持、传承文化、守望相助的精神家园。
More than 130 years ago, Changle people first arrived in Singapore. The earliest known settler — a coal foreman surnamed Zhang — began a migration that would grow into a thriving community, now proudly housed at 248A Geylang Road since 2005.

Our Journey

From the first Changle settlers more than 130 years ago to our permanent home at Geylang Road — a journey of resilience, community, and cultural pride.
从130多年前第一批长乐移民抵星，到在芽笼路安家落户——这是一段坚韧、团结与文化自豪的历程。
The first Changle settlers arrive in Singapore. Earliest known settler — Mr. Zhang, a coal foreman — is followed by Mr. Shi, who worked as a rickshaw puller. The community slowly takes root.
首批长乐移民抵达新加坡。最早已知定居者为张姓煤炭工头，其后石姓乡亲以拉黄包车为业。长乐社群在此逐渐扎根。
The association is formally registered. The inaugural council is sworn in at the Happy Ballroom in Happy World Amusement Park (later Gay World), Geylang. Chen Tianquan is elected first Chairman; Chen Xingchang and Chen Bianbian serve as Executive Committee members.
公会于1940年4月14日正式注册。第一届理事会在芽笼快乐世界（后改名同乐世界）的快乐舞厅宣誓就职。陈天泉当选首任主席，陈兴昌、陈扁扁出任执委。
The association rents a shophouse at 79 Tras Street — ground floor as clubhouse, upper floor rented out for income.
公会租用直落亚逸街79号店屋——底层为会所，楼上出租以贴补经费。
Singapore and Malaya fall under Japanese occupation. Association records are lost during this dark period.
新加坡及马来亚沦陷，日军占领期间，公会档案记录悉数散失。
Liu Zengjian becomes Chairman — a successful businessman and philanthropist who also served in the Singapore Foochow Association and the Fuzhou Coffee, Wine and Food Merchants Association.
刘增建接任主席——他是一位热心公益的成功商人，兼任新加坡福州会馆及福州咖酒食商联合会职务。
Under Chairman Liu's leadership, the association purchases 248A Geylang Road as its permanent clubhouse, ending reliance on rental premises. This landmark moment ensures the association's long-term stability.
在刘增建主席带领下，公会购置芽笼路248A号为永久会所，告别租用场所，为公会的长远发展奠定坚实基础。
Following the devastating Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, China, the association raises SGD 5,000 in relief funds, personally delivered by Chairman Liu to the Bank of China.
四川汶川地震后，公会筹得5,000新元赈灾善款，由刘增建主席亲自送交中国银行转捐。
The association celebrates its 75th Anniversary. Member of Parliament for Macpherson, Tin Pei Ling, is invited as Adviser and presides over the inauguration of the new Executive Committee.
公会隆重庆祝成立75周年。马西岭选区议员陈佩玲获邀出任顾问，并主持新届理事就职典礼。
The association continues to serve the Changle community in Singapore, maintaining strong ties with Fujian Province and the broader Fuzhou network, now marking over 85 years of formal establishment.
公会持续服务旅星长乐乡亲，与福建省及更广泛的福州网络保持紧密联系，迄今正式成立逾85周年。
What We Do

We celebrate major Chinese festivals including Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, and other cultural milestones, keeping our heritage alive through community celebrations.
我们庆祝春节、中秋节等重要华人节日及文化活动，通过社区庆典延续文化传承。
Our scholarship programme rewards academically outstanding children of members at both primary and secondary school levels. Elderly members in need receive cash gifts and support.
公会设立奖学金计划，表彰会员子女在中小学阶段的优异学业成绩。贫困年长会员可获现金慰问金及礼品。
We organise regular delegations to Changle, Fujian, to maintain roots and participate in regional commerce conferences and cultural commemorations.
公会定期组织代表团回访长乐，参与区域商务会议及文化纪念活动，保持与故乡的紧密联系。
