The first Changle settlers arrive in Singapore. Earliest known settler — Mr. Zhang, a coal foreman — is followed by Mr. Shi, who worked as a rickshaw puller. The community slowly takes root.

The association is formally registered. The inaugural council is sworn in at the Happy Ballroom in Happy World Amusement Park (later Gay World), Geylang. Chen Tianquan is elected first Chairman; Chen Xingchang and Chen Bianbian serve as Executive Committee members.
